A Year-End Note From Social Leverage’s Managing Partners
2021 has been a busy, productive, and exciting year at Social Leverage. Against the backdrop of the second full year of a Global Pandemic, our portfolio continues to make impressive strides.
Social Leverage is now four people full time with Don Nitti joining us as a Venture Partner in the first half of 2021. We plan to add two or three more people to our team in 2022.
We will continue making seed stage style investments in Fintech (includes crypto and web 3), Consumer, and Enterprise SaaS.
We have made seven new investments across Fund III and Fund IV; and eighteen existing companies have raised follow on capital across Fund II and Fund III. Robinhood (Fund I, II) went public via an IPO in July, and Manscaped (Fund III) is on path to be a public company via a $1 billion SPAC deal announced in November. Two portfolio companies from Fund II have announced acquisitions that are expected to be completed in the coming year.
In July, we closed our Social Leverage Capital Fund IV, a $99 million seed-stage fund that allows us to continue investing in the best possible teams building incredible products.
We have also created SPV’s for our later stage companies and raised nearly $14 million with these vehicles.
As we end the year, Howard has been doing some blog posts and podcasts with some trends we are following closely. You can read/listen here and here.
We're looking forward to an exciting 2022, and as always, we would like to thank our LPs, most of whom have been long-term backers of Social Leverage, and our founders who continue to do the hard work.
We wish you all a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year.
Howard, Tom, Gary
